Campalbio

After Tivoli I went to termini to catch my train to Campalbio to meet up with my family. They were spending the long weekend at the house in Tuscany. But while waiting for my train Giampa called me and told me his brother Giovane would take me with him to Campalbio....so I went to his house and got a ride from him :) My camera was dying before I left Villa Adriana so I didn't take many pictures here...I mostly laid out by the pool or at the beach with the family. I collected sea shells :) The beach was nice...not clear but much much much better than Galveston. I didn't get in too far because the water was rather cold.

The first night there Bea, Giampa and I went to have dinner on a boat with their friends in Orbetello (which is on a strange piece of land...you should google it). The boast was called bugia (which means lie). I was able to listen to a lot of Italian this weekend because of the dinner conversation, which I was very happy about. The next day was spent by the pool at their house. I definitely got a base tan going and will no longer be made fun of for being so white! lol
The next night we meet some of their other friends at a restaurant and I got to listen to more Italian. I had an amazing meal. It was in a very Italian setting. We were sitting outside under a trellis, drinking red wine by candle light. I had a vegetable fritter for my first plate with very flaky crust and bell peppers on the inside. For my main plate i have ravioli with ricotta cheese in a sea bass butter and almonds.....it was delicious. Then i had a chocolate souffle for dessert....best thing ever! It was crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside; it was perfectly rich.
Saturday we went to the beach and stayed there most of the day. That night we had dinner at Giovane's house, which is more in town than Giampaolo's. The city was built in the Medieval times and is an old fortified castle. Within the walls there are no cars. There are small winding maze-like streets with windows and doorways. Shops and apartments have been added with in these Medieval walls. I for got my camera that night....but it was very quaint and beautiful...Bea and Giovane told me it was a very commonplace type city for Tuscany. I would love to see more of those types of towns.
