Friday: Getting to Florence

Today is Friday and we had class early from 10:30 to 1:30. The class was kinda small today because some people skipped to go to Venice. So it was nice to have a smaller class for a change. After class Andrew, Katie, both the Emilys, Elizabeth, and I went to get pizza and then we headed for Termini to catch our train to Florence. We walked around for a while and we got some candy from a candy store there. I got gummy coke bottles :) Once on the train we walked for ever looking for a place for all of us. The only place that had enough open space was in the cart that had no ac. So we decided to sit there and I pretty much just passed out because of the heat. After a while it cooled down and as the train started to empty we moved up to a different cart and got to sit in an enclosed room that had 6 seats (just perfect for us). It was also cooler as well :)
Once in Florence we got on bus 17 thinking that we could buy tickets on the bus. But we found out that wasnt true. We were all kinda freaking out bc the last group that went to Florence got tickets for not having a bus pass. So we got off at the next stop and tried to find tickets....which was a journey to many differnt tobacchi and bars. Eventually everyone had a pass and we headed to the hostel.
It used to be a convent and is pretty nice. There are 8 beds but 6 of us...so we had 2 ppl we didnt know in the room :/ but at least mostly eveyone is from our group. Its not as nice as the one in Matera, but it gets the job done.
After we headed out for the night and went to eat. I had red wine with gnocchi in a ragu sauce, which isnt just red sauce, but it had meat and carrots in it as well...and topped with fresh parm cheese. It was delicious. after i had terimisu....which was also amazing. We walked to Duomo and saw it. It was overwhelmingly huge and beautiful.
