One big day in Florence

Today we had an early start. We had breakfast at the hostel and then headed to the Duomo.

(This is probably the most bad ass fresco ever! It has a demon dragon thing with wings eating a person!)
We climbed to the top and had a beautiful view of Florence.
Andrew stretching before the climb lol

Between the domes on the way back down:

After we wondered around and found Uffizi.
We looked at Ponte Vecchio which has houses built off of it. The goldsmiths were kicked out of the city at one point and they had to live there.
Couples write their names on these pad locks (Which are all over Rome as well) and lock them and then toss away the key. Its so romantic :) This is right by the bridge

We got a sandwich to eat at a nice cafe then went to meet ppl from 348 and Antonella at the uffizi. Out side are some replicas of really famous sculptures (David being one of them).

Walked around and looked at paintings. Saw Venus and Primavera by Botticelli. After we went to another chuch that combined the work of two different painters; their style differences are very obvious when viewing the two Adam and Eve portraits.
Then we started walking to the leather school and we stopped by a blocked road. Apparently an event called "storica calcio" was going on. We got to see a bunch of guys dressed up, ridding horses, and playing the drums.

We got gelato and i had peanut butter and blak cherry....soooo good. We spent so time at the leather market. The first guy I walked up to I started talking to in Italian and we had a little conversation. I was nervous to haggle so I thought maybe I would just win them over by showing them I'm trying to learn the language. And that seemed to work because he dropped the price from 23 to 15 right away. So that was my strategy. lol.
Then we walked up to this hill and watched the sun set.

And then we went to a Matteo (our professor) recommended dinner.

I had pear ravioli in a cheese cream sause....it was probably the best thing i had ever eaten.

I had teramisu for dessert.

Amazing meal. Then we walked all the way back to Piazza st Marco to catch our bus. Luckily it was arriving when we got there and we didnt have to wait thirty minutes like we did last night. Then we came back to the hostel and got ready for another early start!
